Dan Rice is entering his second year of reporting for and After studying journalism at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn until 2003, Rice began working for legendary broadcaster and writer Stan Fischler. From 2002-04 at the Fischler Hockey Service, he helped write and edit Mr. Fischler’s weekly newsletter, ‘The Fischler Report’, assisted in the writing of books “Who’s Who in Hockey”, “Boston Bruins Memorable Moments & Players”, “Detroit Red Wings Memorable Moments & Players”, “Philadelphia Flyers Memorable Moments & Players” and “The Subway and the City”; he also worked at New Jersey Devils home games as a Statistician for the visiting teams’ television broadcasts.

During the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals he worked as a Runner for the NHL, providing stats and quotes to the attending media. Rice also covered football with a weekly column on titled, “What You Need to Know” from March 2005 – January 2006. In October of 2005 he began working at (which has become, providing a weekly column (View From the Ice) as well as recaps of New Jersey Devils’ home games & select road games. In 2004 Rice completed a course at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey and from late November 2007 – February 2008 he interned at the ECHL, the premier ‘AA’ Hockey League.
